| The
LCBA Management Committee arranges a programme of events which are mainly
held between the middle of September and the end of April. The events
are a mixture of pairs, teams-of-four and one team-of-eight competitions.
Some events are restricted by rank; one you have to qualify for from a
club and two or three are open to non-members by invitation.
From past experience it has been found that we get the largest attendances
when the events are held in a central venue.
As long as it is available we use the Village Hall at Dunholme which is
just off the A46 about 5 miles north of Lincoln. The venue has adequate
parking and there are bar facilites and refreshments available at all
times.
All county events are non-smoking, but depending on the length of the
competition, there are one or two short breaks.
There are also two
teams-of-four knock out competitions and a teams-of-four league.
Trophies are presented annually
at the Championships, except for those competitions that have not been
completed in time, which are presented at the AGM.
The year for which a trophy
is awarded is taken as that in which it is presented at the Annual Championships
or AGM.
Regulations
Unless a competition is open to non-EBU members, all players participating
in County Events must be paid-up members before the start of play. Any
person found not to be a member will be automatically disqualified with
their partner or team members.
Events will start at 1.30pm
unless otherwise published. Players are requested to be seated by 1.20pm
and players arriving more than five minutes after start of play may be
turned away.
Rank restrictions
are taken for points earned as at 1st October of the current
season. Any lapsed EBU member taking part in an appropriate competition
will be deemed to be at least of the rank when his membership lapsed.
How
to Enter
Often it is just a case of turning up. However there are a few
events in the calendar which require a little more than this.
- County
Championships The Championship Events should all be entered
on the form which is distributed to individuals in Spring. Entries,
with entry fees, should be sent to the Competition Secretary.
- Swiss
Teams Pre-entry is required through the Competition Secretary
(See note on how to do this below) since the caterers need to have numbers.
If you have any specific dietary requirements these must be stated at
the time of entry. All teams which have enterd will be displayed on
a Webpage on this site.
- Random
Seeded Teams Again Pre-entry is required through the Competition
Secretary (See note on how to do this below) since there needs to be
an even number of pairs entering. All pairs who have entered will be
displayed on a Webpage on this site.
- Bainton
Semi-Final This event requires pre-qualification through heats
held at Clubs. Ideally the Competition Secretary needs the names of
all qualifiers who intend to attend. Please note that qualifiers must
have earned a score in excess of 50%.
- Bainton
Final This is usually a full Howell movement. Qualifiers will
be shown on the appropriate web page soon after the Semi-final results
are calculated. It is important that pairs who have qualified for the
final actually attend. If a pair finds that it is unable to attend then
they should let the Competition Secretary know as soon as possible,
so that a reserve pair can be invited.
- Entry
Through the Competition Secretary Every effort will be made
by the Competition Secretary to make it as easy as possible for you
to enter County Events. Very often a telephone call is all that is required.
Please note, though, that merely leaving a message on the Competition
Secretary's voicemail is not enough; The vagueries of electronics may
well mean that he doesn't receive the message! Similarly an email entry
is also acceptable, but, for the same reasons as voicemail, it is important
that you receive your confirmation email This will always be sent if
the Competition Secretary has received your entry. For events such as
Swiss Teams, Random Seeded Teams and the Bainton Finals there will be
a webpage devoted to the entries which have been received. This is found
by clicking on the Calendar
screen and selecting the Entries link which
is in the rightmost column associated with the event. Please check this
site for ultimate confirmation that your entry has been received.
